Roll Up for the Magical Mystery Tour – West Malling Farmers Market 22 April – ADVANCE NOTICE
Grab your 1960′s gear and come along to West Malling Farmers Market on 22 April which will feature in a Beatles revival weekend.
David Lambert, the writer of a film documentary on the Magical Mystery Tour will be bringing a replica bus, loaded with fans of the fab four from Newquay for the weekend.
The bus will be on display at the farmers market rekindling memories of when local people acted as extras when the film was shot in the area.
The Magical Mystery Tour was filmed during 1967 and a major location was West Malling airfield, now the site of Kings Hill. A scene was also filmed in West Mallings newsagent’s shop and Ringo Starr bought jeans in Baldocks Clothes Shop.
If you have any memories or photographs of the event please come along to the bus and have a chat with David.
There will be music from the Beatles era and visitors are being encouraged to dig out their mods and rockers gear with a small prize for the best dressed couple.
At the same time the Farmers Market will be taking place with over 35 stalls selling local produce including bread, fish, meat, beer and wines. Stallholders are being encouraged to wear 60′s gear too.

Meopham Farmers Market re-opens for 2012

The first Meopham Farmers Market for 2012 will take place on Sunday 5th February. There will be a variety of local produce available including meat, bread, seasonal vegetables, fish, jams and preserves. We look forward to seeing you .

Opening times remain 9am to 12 noon and the farmers market takes place in the overflow car park, Meopham Fitness and Tennis Centre

Hempstead Valley’s Festival of Transport event 9th to 11th September FREE admission Hempstead Valley’s Festival of Transport event, now in its second year, is already established as one of Kent’s top motoring festivals. Held at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham, this year’s festival (in association with Kent Air Ambulance) will feature some of the world’s most prized and rare star cars. A legendary 1960’s Aston Martin DB5, an Aston Martin DBS, a 1970’s classic Lotus Espirit and a Jaguar XKR film prop from James Bond “Die Another Day” will be the star cars on display inside the centre. As well as providing plenty of motoring excitement for all the family, Hempstead Valley’s Festival of Transport event will also raise money for the Kent Air Ambulance. Plus there will be complimentary pampering sessions, competitions, dance shows and costumed movie characters. Other displays include Kent Fire and Rescue on Friday 9th September. The star cars can be viewed from 9am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Classic Motor Show & Farmers’ Market – Sunday 11th September The finale to the event will be a classic motor show (from 10am to 4pm) on the Sunday. Up to 120 classic, vintage and custom cars will be on display outside in Green car park, alongside the monthly Farmers’ market (open from 10am to 2pm).

Vehicles booked in the Classic Motor Show include: Armstrong Sidley, Ford Thunderbird, Rolls Royce 1968, Daimler 2.5, Honda Tricycle, Cadillacs, 1928 Austin Heavy and a Porsche Carrera.
